Happily Ever After

We are super excited about our travel plans for 2018. This is my preview of the year! It’s fun to think about what’s in store for the year…  I need fun things to look forward to. (I started this post at the end of last year and life got in the way. So… I guess I’m writing it with 2 trips done already.)

First up, my second annual Husband/Dad goes to Europe for work and Blake (my kiddo) and I go to Disney trip. I know, that’s a long name. But really, it will be the last year we can do this because my son will be in kindergarten next year, and by the time we take him out for family trips I can’t also take him out just so I don’t have to parent in the cold by myself. We went to Animal Kingdom Lodge the second week of January. We planned a hotel day and 2 days at the parks. (Magic Kingdom & Animal Kingdom.) We already had tickets since we bought annual passes for the first annual trip. Since this trip already happened, I can say we loved it. The weather was great so we could leave the door wall open and my son played with his cars on the bed while I did some easy work. Then we had our park days, which were great. We even got to swim a little one day. It was a great trip and I’m glad that I did it.

Up next was 8 nights at Walt Disney World with all three of us. This was the last trip under our annual passes. We had 3 nights (changed last minute from 2) at the Cabins at Copper Creek at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (longest name ever,) then 5 nights at the Polynesian Resort.  We had a great trip. It was a little cooler so we had to wear a lot of layers, but it was fun. The 3 days at the cabin were mostly chill days, then we went to the parks for each of the remaining days. It was so much fun.

Up next is our big Panama Canal Cruise on Disney Cruise Line in April. It’s a 14 night cruise on the Disney Wonder. I cannot wait! I went back and forth when deciding to book it. We booked it opening day (the day Disney released the cruise to be booked) and have been not so patiently waiting ever since.  Following the cruise we added 3 nights at Disneyland. I’m excited to take my son to Cars Land California Adventure Park. He’s addicted to all things Cars so that will be fun! That will be a long fun trip and I’m very excited.

After that we have Alaska on Princess Cruise Lines.  My in-laws have invited us, along with the rest of their children and grandchildren, to join them on a 50th Anniversary Cruise to Alaska. What a bucket list trip! I cannot wait! (I am a bit of a broken record saying that, but come on, I have great trips planned for the year.) We are cruising into Glacier Bay and will make 3 stops in Alaskan port towns, plus one stop to Canada. So exciting! We will be traveling with a group of 16 ranging from 5 years old to 73!  How fun!

Finally I have a 2 night preview cruise on Celebrity Edge that I won by entering a contest for travel agents. I shrieked when I got the email with my successful entry on this cruise that sets sail for the first time in November 2018. My cruise date hasn’t been released yet, but from my stalking of its schedule, I suspect we’ll cruise the last week of November. This ship looks great. It has a 25 yard swimming pool which is the biggest at sea. (We are actually doing a full 7 night cruise on her in early 2019. Reach out if you’d like more information about our group cruise.)

What a year of travel. I’m so excited! If you want to hear me talking about these adventures, check out DCL Podcast where we discussed our travel plans for the year.
